CUSTOM LASER CUT MAPS
A map of the place that means something to you, cut in layers so the land stands proud of the water and the streets are engraved into it. Anywhere in the world — your town, the street you grew up on, the harbour you sail out of, the island you came from.

The one we'd point at first. The harbour is a deep poured blue that sits below the coastline, the land steps up off it in layered timber, and every street in the city is engraved into the face. The place name runs along the bottom edge, cut into the map itself.

MELBOURNE
Victoria · Framed, engraved name plate
The Yarra, the docks and the whole inner-city grid, with the bay cut clean through to a dark water layer underneath. Finished in a pale timber frame with the place name engraved into the map itself.
PORT MELBOURNE
Victoria · Walnut frame, cut lettering
A shadow-box piece in walnut over pale ply, with Hobsons Bay in a deep blue and the place name cut right through so the backing colour shows behind the letters.

THE PROOF STAGE

Every map starts here — layers separated by colour, checked on screen and sent to you as a proof. Nothing goes near the machine until you've said yes to the framing and the detail.
Maps are quoted individually. The price moves with the finished size, how many layers it has and what it's cut from — so a firm number is worth more to you than a range. Send us the place and roughly how big you want it and we'll come straight back.

We send you a true-to-scale proof of exactly what will be cut. Change the framing, the road weight or the layers as many times as you like.
CUT AND STACK
Each layer is cut on its own material, then stacked and glued so the map has real depth. Pick up at Port Sorell, or we post it anywhere in Australia.

THINGS WORTH KNOWING
Smaller maps lose detail. Below a certain point a busy town centre turns to mush. We'll either scale the piece up or thin the road network out — and we'll tell you which before you pay for anything.
Remote places come out sparse. The street data behind the maps is community-mapped, so a farming district may only have the highway on it. The proof shows you exactly what's there.
Bigger stacks take longer. A single-layer silhouette is quick. A multi-layer stacked map with a poured water panel is several separate cuts plus glue-up, finishing and framing.
A map makes a good anniversary or farewell gift. Where you met, where you were married, the town someone has just left. Tell us the occasion and we'll help you pick the framing.
LAYERED & INLAID PIECES
Stacked, inlaid and fine-cut work — where one timber is let into another, or a pattern is built up in layers so it throws a real shadow. Any of these can be done in your own artwork.
GEOMETRIC ELEPHANT
Fine cut, float mounted
Cut as a single fine web of lines and float-mounted in a deep box frame with an engraved line of text along the base.
GEOMETRIC LION
Metallic finish
The same treatment in a gold finish on white. Fine, connected linework like this is where a laser earns its keep — no other tool cuts it cleanly.
FILIGREE PANEL
Intricate cut, framed
About as fine as the machine will go. Every one of those internal shapes is a separate cut, and the piece still holds together as one.
MOON PHASES
Two-tone timber inlay
Pale timber inlaid into dark walnut. Each shape is cut from one board and dropped into the hole left in the other, so the face sits flush.
HONEYCOMB
Graduated inlay
The same inlay technique with the pattern opening up as it falls down the panel. Cherry into walnut, framed behind glass.
STACKED CUBES
Built up in blocks
Cut, stacked and glued into a relief that steps out of the frame. Lit from the side it reads completely differently through the day.
ART DECO PANEL
Inlaid geometry
A long deco panel with the pattern inlaid in a lighter timber. Works as a standalone piece or as a door and cabinet front.
ANCHOR CLOCK
Engraved, ready for a movement
A solid timber round with the Roman numerals and the anchor engraved deep, drilled for a clock movement. Any artwork or numeral style you like.
THE SURF SERIES
One design idea worked through four different pieces — wall art, a bottle opener, an incense holder. A good example of how a single bit of artwork can turn into a whole product range.

Timber on white, framed
A board cut in timber and laid over a white panel with a dark backing, so the linework reads sharply from across the room.
DECO BOARD
Stepped deco surround
Same idea, deco treatment — a stepped surround in two timbers with the board engraved into the face.

Stained timber, cast opener
Deep-engraved into a stained board with a solid opener fitted. The kind of thing that sells well at a market stall.

An engraved upright that slots into a cut base — no glue, no fixings, flat-packs to post.

Two-tone acrylic, pre-drilled
Cut from two-tone acrylic so the letters and the bird come through white against black, pre-drilled ready to mount on the fence.

Inlaid compartments
Walnut over pale timber with the compartments cut through and inlaid. Laid out to whatever you need to keep in it.
GUITAR TRINKET DISH
Engraved and cut in one
A little ring and coin dish with the body engraved and the compartments cut through. The sort of thing that works as a gift or a market piece.
FINGER-JOINTED BOX
Living hinge lid
Cut flat and assembled — the finger joints line up with no fixings and the lid runs on a cut timber hinge. Engrave the lid and it's a presentation box.
NESTING BOX
Cut flat, painted, hung
Flat-packed, glued up and painted. Proof that laser work doesn't have to stay indoors or stay decorative.
